Controller Launches COVID-19 Resource Hub

CORONA WATCH-- L.A. Controller Ron Galperin has released a comprehensive COVID-19 Resource Hub that gathers the latest federal, state and local data to give Los Angeles residents and businesses easy access to information and services they need to get through the coronavirus pandemic. Located at lacontroller.org/covid19resourcehub, the hub includes a dashboard illustrating the impact of the coronavirus on L.A. neighborhoods, along with a map showing how stimulus dollars will be distributed by community, and contains hundreds of resources organized into 16 categories — for employees and job seekers, freelancers, renters, small business owners, immigrants and much more.

“There is a lot of information out there to help people navigate their way through the COVID-19 pandemic, but it can be difficult to find everything you need in one easily accessible location,” said Controller Ron Galperin. “My COVID-19 Resource Hub does that by giving updated data on the number of cases and deaths in each L.A. area neighborhood, mapping how federal stimulus dollars will be distributed locally, and linking hundreds of federal, state, county, city and other resources to Angelenos seeking assistance. As a public servant, I want to do my part to support residents and businesses during this unprecedented crisis.”

Galperin’s COVID-19 Resource Hub offers the following data and information:

  • COVID-19 DASHBOARD — Updated daily from L.A. County Dept. of Public Health data so that users can see and search for infection numbers by neighborhood (mapped and listed), track the number of deaths over time, and see the impact on residents by age and ethnicity.
  • MAP OF STIMULUS CHECKS — Interactive map showing where federal dollars will go in the City, including a breakdown of how many people in each L.A. zip code will get full or partial checks and who is getting money for children.
    • For example, 93.4 percent of Wilmington (zip 90744) residents who filed tax returns likely will get a stimulus check with the full $1,200 amount, compared to 60.9 percent in Studio City (zip 91604).
  • RESOURCES FOR ANGELENOS — 16 categories of federal, state and local resources to help residents and businesses, including:
    • Assistance for employees and job seekers, artists and freelancers, small businesses and nonprofits; and seniors, renters, homeowners and immigrants.
    • Information on food access, financial support, testing and medical treatment, education, utilities and internet, City services, legal assistance and arts and culture.

The COVID-19 Resource Hub aligns with Galperin’s mission to connect people with public resources using data and technology. He recently released two food access maps, pinpointing food pantries and LAUSD Grab and Go centers across L.A. County. Prior to the pandemic, Galperin also gathered and mapped resources for emergency preparedness, LGBTQ homeless youth, tax preparation, homeless housing, domestic violence services, youth programs, summer fun activities and more.
